Black Limestone
What is Black Limestone?
Black Limestone is a premium natural stone known for its deep, rich black colour with subtle variations in texture and tone. Sourced from India, this durable and elegant stone is often used for patios, paths, driveways and garden features.
Why is it ideal for outdoor use?
Limestone paving is an excellent choice for outdoor paving due to its durability, weather resistance, and non-slip surface. It can withstand various weather conditions, including rain, frost, and sun, making it ideal choice for your landscaping project. The stone’s natural textures provide a safe, slip-resistant surface, while its variety of colours, tones and patterns adds a beautiful, rustic charm to any outdoor space. Limestone paving also requires minimal maintenance, making it a practical and long-lasting option for outdoor areas.
What finishes are available?
Black Limestone paving is available in Natural (Textured) finish. Black Limestone is also available in multiple size options such as 900×600 and 4 size patio packs.
Does Black Limestone need sealing?
While Black Limestone is durable and weather-resistant, it’s recommended to seal it to enhance its longevity and protect it from staining, especially in high-traffic areas. Sealing helps prevent moisture absorption and maintains the stone’s appearance over time.
In contrast, porcelain paving typically doesn’t require sealing due to its non-porous nature, making it low maintenance and resistant to staining. However, sealing may still be considered for grout lines or specific finishes.
How do I maintain Black Limestone?
To maintain Black Limestone, regularly sweep to remove dirt and debris, and clean with a mild detergent and warm water using a soft-bristled brush. For tougher stains, use a stone cleaner or moss remover. Consider sealing the paving every 1-2 years to protect it from moisture and stains. To prevent weeds, apply a weed killer or remove weeds manually as needed. Always avoid harsh chemicals or power washing on high settings to preserve the stone’s surface.
Will Black Limestone Fade?
Black Limestone will naturally mellow and soften with age, especially when exposed to direct sunlight and weather. While its colour can change slightly to a pale anthracite tone, it will not fade dramatically like some lighter stones. The natural aging process enhances its character, giving it a more refined and timeless look over time. If you want to keep the intense black tones, then a back to black sealer will be required. You can get wet look versions and “invisible” sealers that enhance the colour without the wet look.
